Minutes 11 October, 2002

Present: Bonnie Blackwell, Dacre Holloway, David Pankhurst, John Winson (host), Brenda Noble, Bruce Beacham, David Redfern, Martin Smith, Marian Thornton
Apologies: Gwilys Price, Mike West

Minutes of Previous Meeting
The secretary apologised for the fact that the members who normally received their paperwork via email had not received it. He would send copies of last month’s paperwork to them with this month’s. If in the future members had not received their paperwork within 2 weeks of the meeting they should contact the secretary a.s.a.p.
The minutes were approved and signed.

Matters Arising
Brenda Noble had won the monthly share competition with her share Ryan Air.
John Winson and David Pankhurst had not been able to arrange for the dealing account to be moved to the internet but they would sort this out before the next meeting.

Treasurers Report
The treasurer reported that we had £1854 available for investment. He also distributed tax certificates for the 2001/2002 tax year.

Share Monitors' Reports
Our holdings were reviewed and it was decided to sell the following shares:
Colt Telecom, approx value £360
Ferraris, approx value £192
It was also agreed that we would move the remaining poorly performing shares ie Bede, Marconi and PPL to a shadow stop loss sheet in acknowledgement of their negligible value. David Pankhurst would check with his contact regards the position of Carbo with a view to doing the same with this holding next month.

Dealers Report
Marconi had made an offer to buy small holdings of shares with no dealing charges. It was agreed that we would not sell our holding as we hoped to need to use its potential Capital Gains loss in the future! .

Future Investments
The following shares were put forward for consideration:

Cadbury Schweppes (David Pankhurst Bonnie & Bruce)
M&S (David Redfern & Brenda)
BP & BT (Dacre)
Unilever (Bonnie & John)
Ottakars (John)
GSK (Martin)
Wolseley (Marion, but only when the price is approx £4.00)

After a short discussion and a series of votes it was decided to purchase £800, plus dealing charges, of Cadbury Schweppes.

Any Other Business
None
